Bitcoin Enters JPMorgan’s Long-Term Outlook With 10% Annual Return Potential

JPMorgan projects 10% annual returns for Bitcoin over the next decade, but warns that extreme volatility remains a major risk for long-term investors.

Bitcoin Enters JPMorgan’s Long-Term Outlook With 10% Annual Return Potential

Wall Street is paying closer attention to crypto again. JPMorgan Asset Management just included Bitcoin in its long-term market forecasts for the very first time, pointing toward a solid 10% average annual return over the next ten years. On paper, that puts it ahead of stocks, bonds, and gold.

But there’s a catch—and it’s a big one. JPMorgan projects Bitcoin's annualized volatility at around 55%, making it more than three times as jumpy as standard U.S. stocks. That makes its overall risk-reward ratio a lot harder to digest for conservative money managers.

Because Bitcoin’s relationship with broader market assets is still so inconsistent, JPMorgan isn't slotting it into its default institutional portfolios just yet. Even so, the fact that one of the world's biggest banks is building Bitcoin into its 10-year outlook says a lot about its growing legitimacy in traditional finance. A 10% return sounds great, but managing those wild price swings is still the biggest hurdle for long-term investors.
